Flickerstick

BIO

As the winner of the breakthrough, Emmy nominated, 2001 VH1 series Bands on the Run, the Dallas, TX group converted national viewers seemingly overnight to its style of emotional rock.

Following the TV series with a video for the song “Smile” and a major label bidding war, Welcoming Home the Astronauts, the band’s debut album, was released on Sony/Epic in November of 2001. The album was co-produced by Rick Beato and mixed by Tom Lord-Alge (Weezer, Blink-l82, Marilyn Manson). The album debuted in the Billboard top 200 selling over 80,000 copies in the first week and was number 2 on Billboard’s Heat Seekers. Their first single, Beautiful, reached #26 on modern rock radio. Album received 3.5 stars in Rolling Stone.

Reclaiming their independence after buying out their Epic/Sony record deal, Flickerstick signed a deal with Dallas indie record label Idol Records. The much-anticipated Tarantula LP was recorded and produced by Keith Cleversley (Flaming Lips, Hum) in Chicago, IL and hit stores nationwide 1n October 2004. Over the years, Flickerstick has also released 2 live albums, an EP/DVD, and a B-Sides/Rarities album.

Flickerstick’s extensive touring began in 2001 and continued until 2009, when the band eventually called it quits. During that time the band sold out headlining shows across the country in revered venues like Theater of Living Arts, Irving Plaza, St. Andrew’s Hall, Hard Rock Orlando, The Metro, Roxy, Norva, Newport Music Hall, and many others. Additionally, the band played dozens of music festivals and radio shows including Music Midtown in Atlanta.

In 2021, talks of a Flickerstick reunion gained steam when their debut album was pressed to vinyl. The limited release of 600 copies sold out in hours, indicating there was demand for the music. In August of 2021 Flickerstick created social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Launched a YouTube channel. In that time they have added 2000+ Instagram followers, almost 4000 followers in their FB group, and have amassed over 75,000 hours of watch time on YouTube.

Since adding the debut album to streaming in August of 2021 (for the first time ever) it has been streamed over 300,000 times.

In January 2022, a one-night reunion show at HOB Dallas was announced. The show sold out during pre-sale and a week later a second show was announced. The second show sold out after 12 hours of on-sale. The band grossed over $140,000 in ticket sales and, over the 2 nights, sold almost $35,000 in merchandise. The merch continues to sell very well online post-show.

In June of 2022 the band announced that it was reforming and would be releasing new music and touring in the coming months. The first single, Dandy, is scheduled to hit streaming in late August with subsequent singles being released periodically (2-3 per quarter) over the next 9-12 months.
