Washington D.C.’s own comedian Earthquake, born Nathaniel Stroman, is a true icon in comedy known for his sharp wit and common-sense humor. A former Air Force sergeant, Earthquake became a fan favorite on BET’s ComicView and HBO’s Def Comedy Jam in the mid-90s, later establishing himself as a cornerstone of the Atlanta comedy scene with his role as host of Uptown Comedy Corner. His unique style and insight earned him the moniker “comedian’s favorite comedian” and led to high-profile appearances on Comedy Central, Mad TV, and Real Time with Bill Maher, where he earned the show’s first-ever standing ovation.

As his career progressed, Earthquake gained attention in film and television, from voice roles in animated films like Barnyard to memorable appearances in Clerks II and Everybody Hates Chris. He continued to expand his reach, with standout performances in Shaquille O’Neal’s All-Star Comedy Jam, his acclaimed DVD About Got Damm Time, and his involvement in major events like the TBS Comedy Festival and Montreal’s Just for Laughs. With his humor still resonating on new platforms, Earthquake remains a powerhouse in comedy, preparing for his upcoming HBO special.
