The group is made up of Nelson “El Sabrozzo”, who is the founder and leader of the group, the talented rapper Kid G, who was a member of Out of Law, and has collaborated with renowned artists such as Fulanito, DMX, Kinito Méndez and Monchy & Alexandra. Paolo Tondo, who was part of the group Taboo Bambú, was a finalist on the reality show “Letra y Música” and is a co-writer of several Chayanne songs, including the smash hit “Me enamoré de ti”.
The group was born in New York, when Nelson Zapata decided to create new musical patterns, filling the New York streets with flavor. 1989 marks the beginning of a new musical era with Proyecto Uno. The group makes history, presenting for the first time its musical proposal with daring fusions of hot rhythms such as Merengue, Dance, House, Hip-Hop, R&B Soul, and naturally tropical. The innovative formula begins the style that they define as “a new trend in culture to celebrate our native heritages.”
“I was born in the Dominican Republic. While I was in high school in New York, I began to miss the music of my country, merengue. It was there that I decided to form PROYECTO UNO, to capture the fusion that I mentioned, and which gives rise to the rhythm that would revolutionize the musical environment ”, commented Zapata, leader of the group
In 1990, with the dream of making their music known worldwide, PROYECTO UNO released their first album “Todo El Mundo”. Immediately, they begin to occupy the first places of preference with the theme that gives its name to this musical work, a Spanish version of “Everybody, Everybody” by the group Black Box. It is with the second single, “Brinca”, that they manage to establish themselves in both the United States and Latin America.
