MEXICO’S MUSICAL ICONS YOLANDA DEL RIO AND BEATRIZ ADRIANA HEADLINE ESTRELLAS DE MARIACHI
One of the most successful ranchera singers, Yolanda del Río has sold 20 million records around the world. A film star too, she continued recording and performing into the ’90s and garnered a Grammy nomination in 1984. Beatriz Adriana Flores rose to fame as a Ranchera-Norteña singer and actress. In the late 80’s and early 90’s she appeared in more than a dozen films. With countless hits she takes her rightful place among some of the greatest female singers of the mariachi genre.
Founded in 1999 by trumpet player Cindy Shea, the Two Time Grammy Award Winning Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea is an all-female ensemble that continues to push and expand the scope of mariachi music. Since 2003, Mariachi Divas has been the official mariachi of the Disneyland Resort. Their music is featured in film soundtracks, music videos, and Hallmark greeting cards.
Mariachi Los Caporales, under the direction of mariachi veteran Roy Quintero, has been one of San Antonio’s top professional performing groups. Los Caporales has been featured at some of the renowned mariachi festivals. The group regularly accompanies the most famous artists of the genre, and are currently in Russia performing at various World Cup events.
Sebastien De La Cruz is a high school singing sensation! Discovered on the TV series “America’s Got Talent,” he started singing at the age of five. Over the past 10 years, he has been showcased at the biggest festivals in cities of Albuquerque, Tucson, and Las Cruces to name a few. Sebastien was featured on a documentary called “Go Sebastien Go!” on ESPNs 30 for 30, which profiled the singer after his singing of the National Anthem during the 2013 NBA Finals.
