SKEE-LO’s first hit record was titled “I Wish.” The “I Wish” single with a video that parodied Forrest Gump, became a huge hit on radio and TV during the summer of 1995 and, his identically titled, self produced debut album was released shortly thereafter; earning him two (2) Grammy nominations for “Best Rap Solo,” & Best Rap Album. Later single releases would include “Top of The Stairs” from the “(Money Train” movie), “Come Back To Me” (from the “Big Bully” movie), “Mr. Morton” from the (School House Rock Album Project), and “I’ll be Your Everything,” (which he co-wrote with the Boy-Band-Group) “Youngs Town” for the “Inspector Gadget” movie. All of which were “multi-platinum” releases.
In 1996 -1997, SKEE-LO became a V.J. for both MTV’s “The Beach House,” & MTV’s “The Grind;” thereafter making appearances as (lead actor) on television shows like Dangerous Minds, Goode Behavior & Bay Watch Nights.
In August 2012; Skee-Lo’s new independent record label “SKEELO MUSIK,” inked an exclusive distribution agreement with MRI and Red Music, a division of SONY MUSIC, via Whatevaok Entertainment under the auspices of Lamar Leggard, (Associate Director of Digital Operations for Red Music and “Sony Music Entertainment. The agreement includes worldwide exclusive digital distribution rights and physical distribution in the US and Canada.
On November 13, 2012; SKEE-LO released a new album entitled “FRESH IDEAS.” His 1st single of 2013 aptly titled “Vibe is Right” marks a trifecta return for Skee-Lo. Renewed interest in Skee-Lo and “I Wish” has been sparked by inclusion in 3 of Toyota’s Rav 4 national commercials featuring, ‘Big Bang Theory’ star Kaley Cuoco. The first commercial, which debuted during the 2013 Super Bowl Game, has received over 16 million views and; sales of the “I Wish” album has hit an all time high. Wish granted!
