Fresh off their appearance on the Bad Boy Family Reunion tour of 2016, the group proves that they still have the chemistry to create new and exciting sounds. “Strawberry” sees the group moving deftly through modern day production and sheen while still retaining the smooth and harmonious sound that caught Puff Daddy’s eye back in the early 1990s. Hooky and melodic, the track proves that 112 have aged like a fine “cherry wine,” and have added another sensual ingredient to their “Peaches and Cream” fame and then some.
112 has been one of the most successful male vocal groups of the past 20 years, with all of their five albums to date having gone Gold or Platinum. Their 1996 eponymous debut album was certified double Platinum and spawned the hits “Only You” and “Cupid.” 112 toured widely with Puff Daddy & The Family, Keith Sweat, New Edition and, eventually, the likes of Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston. They also appeared on hits by the late Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy (his epic “I’ll Be Missing You”, which earned the group a Grammy) and more. More hits followed including “Come See Me”, “Love Me” featuring Mase and “Anywhere,” leading to the double Platinum-selling album Room 112. In 2001, their Part III album spawned the singles “It’s Over Now,” which hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, and the massive Grammy-nominated hit “Peaches & Cream,” 112 then moved over to Def Jam, where they released 2003’s Hot & Wet. In 2005 they scored the hit “U Already Know,” which led to the release of their Platinum-selling fifth album Pleasure & Pain.
