Francisco Javier Bautista Jr., professionally known as Frankie J, is a Mexican-American singer and former member of the musical group Kumbia Kings. Born on December 7, 1975, in Tijuana, Mexico, he moved to San Diego, California, at the age of two. In the late 1990s, he began his music career as a freestyle artist under the stage name Frankie Boy. He later joined the Kumbia Kings, performing under the name Cisko, before embarking on a solo career. His solo debut album, “What’s A Man To Do,” was released in 2003, followed by several English and Spanish language albums. In 2013, his album “Faith, Hope y Amor” received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Latin Pop Album.

Marco Cardenas, professionally known as MC Magic, is a Mexican-born American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer celebrated for his bilingual performances in English and Spanish. Born on June 29, 1970, in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, he immigrated to the United States at the age of five, settling in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1990, he founded Nastyboy Records, marking the beginning of his influential presence in the music industry. MC Magic gained prominence with his second solo album, “Magic City,” released in 2006, which peaked at number one on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. He is also known for forming the hip-hop group NB Ridaz, initially known as Nastyboy Klick, contributing significantly to the Latin hip-hop scene.

Ronald Ray Bryant, professionally known as Baby Bash, is an American rapper and singer born on October 18, 1975, in Vallejo, California. He began his music career under the moniker Baby Beesh, releasing independent albums “Savage Dreams” (2001) and “On Tha Cool” (2002) through Dope House Records. After adopting the name Baby Bash, he signed with Universal Records in 2003 and achieved mainstream success with the single “Suga Suga” featuring Frankie J, which peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. His subsequent albums, including “Tha Smokin’ Nephew” (2003) and “Super Saucy” (2005), solidified his presence in the hip-hop scene. Throughout his career, Baby Bash has collaborated with artists such as Akon, T-Pain, and Pitbull, contributing to his reputation as a versatile figure in the music industry.

In 2024, Michael Grubbs continues to lead Wakey Wakey, a Brooklyn-based adult alternative pop band, to new heights. Originating from Richmond, Virginia, Grubbs’ classical training and roots in church music evolved into a unique blend of anti-folk and pop after moving to New York in 1998. His big break came when One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn featured Wakey Wakey’s song “War Sweater” on the show, later inviting Grubbs for multiple cameos and performances. The band’s debut album, Almost Everything I Wish I’d Said the Last Time I Saw You…, climbed to number one on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart, securing their place in the music scene. With releases like Homeless Poets (2015) and Overreactivist (2016) under labels The Family Records and The End Records, Wakey Wakey has solidified its reputation for storytelling and genre-blending sounds, reflecting Grubbs’ deep commitment to creative evolution.

With a fearless spirit and an eclectic sound, Erica Campbell has established herself as a prominent solo artist while continuing to celebrate her roots with sister Tina in the renowned duo Mary Mary. Her debut album, HELP, released in 2014 on My Block Inc./eOne, marked a significant milestone in her career, debuting at Number 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Chart and reaching Number 6 on the Billboard Top 200. A native New Yorker, Case got his start in the music biz in the ’90s, singing backup on albums by several renowned R&B artists (such as Usher). Signed to the Def Jam label in the mid-’90s, Case issued his self-titled debut in 1996, followed by Personal Conversation in 1999 and Open Letter in 2001. On the latter release, Case wrote each song with a different person in mind (“A Song for Skye” was written for his daughter, while the tracks “Love of My Life” and “Shine” were inspired by the great Stevie Wonder). Case was joined by such big-name producers as Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Tim & Bob. In 2004 he asked to be released from his Def Jam contract in order to launch his own label, Indigo Blue. In 2009 The Rose Experience became the first release for the label. In addition to his own albums, Case has appeared on the soundtracks for the movies Rush Hour, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, and The Best Man (for the latter he teamed up with Tyrese, Ginuwine, and RL of Next for the track “Best Man I Can Be”).

Cam’ron, born Cameron Giles, stands as a Harlem-born, Grammy-nominated, multiplatinum rapper who has sustained his cultural relevance throughout hip-hop’s evolution. As the founder and leader of The Diplomats, he has significantly influenced New York City’s style, language, and hip-hop swagger. Known for his daring fashion statements, including his iconic pink mink at NY Fashion Week and his humorously bold public persona, Cam’ron has become both an anti-hero and meme icon in pop culture. Beyond music, he’s a multifaceted entrepreneur, actor, and director, embodying Harlem’s entrepreneurial spirit and continuing to captivate audiences with his distinctive, unapologetic presence.

Vanilla Ice, born Robert Van Winkle, shot to fame in 1990/91 with his hit single “Ice Ice Baby” and debut album, which sold 10 million copies in just four months. His career spans over 25 million album sales globally, earning him multiple MTV Awards, a People’s Choice Award, and a Grammy nomination. Besides music, he’s appeared in movies like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and Cool As Ice, starred on various reality shows, and found ongoing success in real estate with his popular DIY series The Vanilla Ice Project, now in its ninth season. Vanilla Ice’s extensive global touring, including the I Love the 90’s tour across 200+ cities, and collaborations with brands like Zumba, Castle Lite Beer, and Virgin Mobile highlight his enduring influence in entertainment and beyond.

MC Lyte, an icon in hip-hop, debuted in 1988 with Lyte As A Rock, making history as one of the genre’s most influential artists. At just 17, she began showcasing her skill, eventually releasing ten albums, including a Greatest Hits. Lyte has consistently broken barriers as the first rap artist to perform at Carnegie Hall and the first female rapper to earn a gold single. Her Grammy-nominated hit “Ruffneck” in 1993 made her the first female solo rapper to receive this honor, with her 2003 album Undaground Heat vol.1 later earning her a second Grammy nod. She also made history by being the first solo female rapper honored on VH-1’s Hip-Hop Honors in 2006.

Beyond music, Lyte’s talent spans acting, voice-over work, and television, where she co-wrote themes for Fox’s Dark Angel and BET’s Holla. Her 2006 album Back to Lyte demonstrated her continued relevance with tracks like “Wonder Years,” produced by DJ Premier, and she has since collaborated on hits like Jill Scott’s “Hate on Me” remix. Lyte’s eleventh album promises a blend of mature, sophisticated hip-hop, with its first single “Beautiful” gaining traction on mixtapes and underground outlets.
