Universal Attractions Agency is proud to announce exclusive representation of Nappy Roots
Nappy Roots is a pioneering southern rap group known for hits like “Awnaw,” “Good Day,” “No Static,” and “Po’ Folks.” Formed in 1995 at Western Kentucky University, the group includes Georgia’s Fish Scales and Kentucky natives Skinny Deville, B. Stille, and Ron Clutch. In 2002, they released their multi-platinum debut album Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz, which featured the Grammy-nominated “Po’ Folks” and MTV-nominated “Awnaw.” They were the best-selling hip-hop group of that year and have been influential in shaping country rap.
In 2002, Kentucky Governor named September 16th “Nappy Roots Day” to honor the group, and in 2022, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens did the same. Over 22 years, they’ve released 8 albums, including Nappy Dot Org, and 35 singles, with recent tracks like “Kiss The Sky” and “Home Fried.” Their latest release is the EP The Brew Day (Nov 2024). In 2022, they also opened Atlantucky, one of only two Black-owned craft breweries in Atlanta.
