MEET THE ARTISTS
Paul Wall has been one of the pillars of Texas mixtape community since 1999, with his talents earning him a major deal with Swishahouse Records’ 2004 joint venture with Atlantic Records. Wall’s 2005 release of his major album The People’s Champ debuted on Billboard’s TOP 200 at the #1 spot and swiftly achieved platinum status. And in 2007, he received a GRAMMY Nomination for Best Rap Performance as a Duo or Group for his feature on the song GRILLZ with Nelly and Jermaine Dupri. Today, the rapper, DJ and entrepreneur, is one of Texas’s most successful independent musicians.
The Ying Yang Twins are an American hip-hop duo consisting of Kaine (Eric Jackson) and D-Roc (Deongelo Holmes). They were born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and began their music career in the late 1990s. In 2000, the Ying Yang Twins released their debut album, “Thug Walkin’,” which garnered them some attention in the hip-hop community. However, it was their 2002 album, “Alley: The Return of the Ying Yang Twins,” that brought them mainstream success.
Moses Mortimer Barrett III, better known by his stage name Petey Pablo, is an American rapper from North Carolina. Petey Pablo gained national attention with his debut single, “Raise Up,” which was released in 2001. The song, which featured a chant of “North Carolina! Come on and raise up!” became an instant hit and is still considered a classic in Southern hip hop.
Twista is an American rapper from Chicago, Illinois. Twista gained mainstream success with his third album, “Adrenaline Rush,” which was released in 1997. The album featured the hit single “Emotions” and established Twista as one of the fastest rappers in the music industry, earning him the title of “the fastest rapper in the world” by Guinness World Records in 1992.
